1st Battalion, King's Own Royal Lancaster Regiment - Page Four

Beaumont Hamel Sector, France, group of A Company, 1st Battalion, King's Own taken on 30th August 1915.  Left to right, back, Sergeant Taylor (Platoon Sergeant Number 4 Platoon), 2nd Lieutenant J F Mason (Platoon Commander), unknown private.  Front left, Private Unger, either a Pole or Russian and spoke hardly any English. (Research indicates that Number 17867 Private Barnet Unger arrived in France and Flanders on 6th July 1915, he served with both the 1st and 7th Battalions of the King's Own, being transferred to Class Z Reserve on 4th March 1919.  His service is recorded in the British Jewry Book of Honour.) Corporal Williams and Corporal Crompton.
