9th (Service) Bn, King's Own Royal Lancaster Regiment - Page Six

The following photographs are from the collection of Tom Harley who was an officer with C Company of the 9th Battalion.

Major Durst in Jackson's Ravine, Doiran Front, in 1918.  William Herbert Durst was commissioned into the 9th Battalion on 22nd September 1914 and remained with the battalion through the war, although some records indicate that he transferred to the Machine Gun Corps.  He was awarded the Military Cross on 25th November 1916.

Lieutenant Francis Davis, who joined the 9th Battalion from the North Staffordshire Regiment in March 1918, Lieutenant William Leslie Dunning who joined the battalion in April 1918, and Lieutenant Thomas Parker who served with the 9th from May 1917 to the end of the war.

Private Wood, however records indicate four Private Woods served with the 9th Battalion, and it is unclear if this is Frederick, George, Wilfred or William Henry Wood.
