2nd/5th (TF) Battalion, King's Own Royal Lancaster Regiment - Page One

Listed as the 5th (Reserve) Battalion, but later to become the 2nd/5th Battalion, soldiers are seen digging trenches at Blackpool in December 1914.

2nd/5th Battalion, Signallers at Blackpool, 1916.  Lance Corporal J W Mashiter is standing third from left.  Joseph Mashiter, from Caton, went to France with the 1st/5th Battalion in February 1915, was wounded on 4th May 1915 and after time at Lees Court Military Hosptial at Faversham in Kent joined the 2nd/5th, before returning to France, completing his service as a Sergeant.  He served in the Home Guard from June 1940 to December 1944.
