The King's Own Royal Regiment has always had strong connections with
the Monarchy, and its support of the Monarch resulted in the title of
'King's Own' and the ancient badge of 'The Lion of England'.
Presentation of Colours, 1878

"The War in South Africa (1879) Her Majesty presenting New
Colours to the Fourth (King’s Own Regiment)
at Windsor Castle, under orders for the Cape".
Her Majesty Queen Victoria presented a new set of Colours to the
2nd Battalion, 4th Foot at Windsor on 6th December 1878. These
were the last Colours of the Regiment to be carried on active service,
in the Zulu War of 1879.

Lancaster

His Majesty King George VI inspects the Guard of Honour of the 5th
Battalion, King's Own Royal Regiment, Dalton Square, Lancaster, 10th
April 1951. The visit was to mark the 600th Anniversary of the
County Palatine.
