FAMILY HISTORY

The Museum receives many enquiries relating to family history.  We are pleased to help where we can, but we do not have a record for every soldier who ever served in the Regiment.

It may be that we can assist your research only after you have contact other organisations, such as the Army Personnel Centre at Glasgow, or have consulted records held by other organisations such as the National Archives.

We will always try out best to help you.  See the 'Resources' page to see the range and scope of materials we hold in the collection.

We do not hold service records of soldiers and officers.  Records pre-1920 are held at The National Archives and post-1920 by the Army Personnel Centre in Glasgow: Official army records for soldiers who served after about 1920 are retained by the Ministry of Defence.  Access to these records is limited and details can be obtained from:
Army Personnel Centre, Disclosures 4 (Historical), Mailpoint 400, Kentigern House, 65 Brown Street, Glasgow, G2 8EX.  Telephone 0845 600 9663.  Email: disc4.civsec@apc.army.mod.uk
